A Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is a program in which the addict or alcoholic still lives at home but commutes to a treatment center up to seven days per week. The intension of a partial hospitalization program is to reduce inpatient hospitalization but still provide comprehensive treatment of addiction and co-occurring disorders to the individual.
PHP offers intensive treatment in a relaxed environment. The main goal is to facilitate the recovery from drugs and alcohol in a way that allows the client to transition back into their community. Typical PHO programs are broken down into 3 components of treatment: individual therapy, group therapy and family therapy.
